How do I access Okta?

You will need to install Okta Verify from your mobile device's app store to register your account and to autheticate into Okta.

Can't Scan QR Code?

If you cannot scan the QR code when adding the account in Okta Verify, click the "Can't Scan" link under the QR code, and enter your mobile phone number.  You will receive a text(SMS) message with a link.  Click/tap this link on your mobile device and it will complete the Okta Verify setup on your mobile and take you to your account setup screen.

What is MFA?

Our computers, our private information, and our web applications are secured with locks. Locks require keys. In computer lingo, we call this key a “factor”. We have all been using single locks on our systems for ever: passwords. Passwords are one key, one factor. Multifactor Authentication (MFA) simple means that more than one key (or factor) is required to prove you are the person who should be accessing the systems. Factors include something you know (passwords), something you are (biometrics—fingerprints, retina scans, etc.), and something you have (like an authenticator app on your phone).

Why is MFA required?

MFA is an effective way to provide enhanced security.  Traditional usernames and passwords can be stolen; and they've become increasingly more vulnerable to malicious activity, and cyber-attacks like phishing or brute force attacks. MFA creates multiple layers of security to help increase the confidence that the user requesting access is actually who they claim to be. If a password is stolen or compromised, the second factor becomes the last line of defense to protect the account. MFA has become a keystone in company security posture and is widely used in most industries.

What is Okta Verify?

Okta Verify is a mobile application from Okta that can be used to verify a user for MFA purposes. The Okta Verify app is simply an “authenticator” app, like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, DUO, etc. Its sole purpose is to generate a “time-based one-time token” and can receive a push notification that someone logged into your account. You receive a push notification on your mobile to confirm the second factor after the factor is set up. Why do I have to install an app (Okta Verify) for work on my mobile device?

We recognize that some of you have concerns about installing work apps on your personal device. We get it. The authenticator app is a secure and convenient way to prove who you are. The app does not give CareFlite any access to your device in any way.

How do I set up and register my MFA?

You will be prompted for MFA enrollment the first time you login to https://careflite.okta.com. When you go to access your Okta Dashboard or a specific application protected by Okta, after you submit your username and password, Okta will prompt you to enroll in 1 or more security methods. You will be unable to skip this step. You will be required to download the Okta Verify app, and may enter your phone number to receive an SMS or Voice Call, or use a security key.

What is my username and password for Okta?

Your username is your CareFlite email address and the password is your CareFlite email/computer password.  Okta SSO is designed to reduce the number of passwords you have to keep up with, and you just need your CareFlite credential and Okta Verify to access your sites and services.  If you've forgotten your password, click the "Need help signing in?" link at the bottom of the sign-in page. Then click Forgot password to reset it. If you don’t see these options, contact the help desk.

Can I opt out of SSO?

You can’t choose to opt out. That would leave a huge hole in our organization’s security, and leave everyone’s data vulnerable to an attack. Some of our most important applications will only be accessible through Okta.

What do I do if I forgot my password?

If you’ve forgotten your password, click the "Need help signing in?" link at the bottom of the sign-in page. Then click Forgot password to reset it. If that doesn’t work, call your help desk.

How do I unlock my account?

If you’re locked out of your account (but still remember your password), click the "Need help signing in?" link at the bottom of the sign-in page. Then click Unlock account to unlock it. You may be prompted to authenticate with additional security methods.

How do I change my password?

To change your password, log in to your Okta account:
   • Click on your name in the top right corner of your dashboard which will open a dropdown menu.
   • From the drop down menu, click Settings.
   • In the Change Password section, enter your current password and the new password.
   • Click Change Password and you’re good to go*.

*Make sure to update your password on your mobile device mail client if you sync mail to your mobile devices.

What is Okta Browser Plugin?

This plugin allows you quick access to your Okta applications from your browser.  It can also save your login credentials for sites that are not in Okta.
